This is the annual get-together for all radio enthusiasts: DXers, radio experimenters, shortwave listeners, associations, groups, clubs and radio listeners in general; from Mexico and any part of the world, as well as representatives of international and local radio stations.
But besides this, we are celebrating 15 YEARS!!!! of meetings as DXers and radio clubs in Mexico.
In the year 1995 the First National Meeting of DX Clubs formally took place in Mexico. This came about at the urging of Professor Ivan Lopez Alegria, who organized with great satisfaction the first event in the city of Tepic, Nayarit State, and with it the beginning of this historic period that has brought us with the 1009 Edition a total of 15 years of meetings of enthusiasts who listen to the world and tune in the world by means of the Hertzian waves, practicing world band radio listening and practicing the exciting hobby/science that is DXing.

What are the objectives?
What to bring to the event? First of all, a lot of enthusiasm for radio. If not, at the end of the Meeting you will leave with a lot of enthusiasm for radio!!! as well as a desire to become more familiar with radio, radio listening and DXing. Items that you should not forget, and if you do forget them, no problem; you’ll get more.
Whatever you consider necessary for the event -- souvenirs of your region or country, post cards, etc. Remember that this is also a time for friendship, comradery and getting together.
All of the above is not necessary, but if you have some of it, so much the better. Remember that our equipment is our treasure, but be careful with it as you travel to the event. ******************************************************************
The city of Cuernavaca is located some 85 kilometers south of the capital of Mexico, Mexico City. It has an altitude of 150 meters above sea level. As you descend on the highway from Mexico City, you can observe how big the valley is where this “City of Eternal Spring” is located. Its slogan comes from the very nice climate which it has most of the year.
Reasons to visit Cuernavaca and all of the State of Morelos (So you can enjoy this beautiful region using the DX Meeting as a pretext)
Statue of Don Jose Ma. Morelos y Pavon, a Mexican Independence War leader. Historical attractions.- Here in Curnavaca, there are important historical attractions such as museums, monuments, gardens, plazas and historical houses. One of the obligatory visits is to the Museo Cuauhnahuac or the Palace of Cortes. But there are other must-see museums and archeological sites in the rest of the state, like Xochimilco, designated by UNESCO as a world heritage site; the ex-convents in towns like Tepoztlan and Tlayacapan; and the ex-haciendas which evoke moments of the revolutionary struggle; cathedrals and churches that define religious architecture of other periods. Be sure to see places like the cities of Jiutepec, Temixco, Cuautla, and towns like Xochitepec, Zapata and Jojutla. Cathedral and Principal square:
Government's Palace:
El Castillito (Historic Photograhy Museum) and El Calvario (Church):
Cortes` Palace (Cuauhnauac Museum):
Tourist and ecological attractions.- This is a perfect region for eco-tourism, with a favorable climate and an abundance of cold- and hot-water natural springs, without mentioning the abundance of campgrounds and beaches, and the largest water park in all of Latin America. There are also large greenhouses for plants and ornate flowers such as the poinsettia and roses. As for lodging and gastronomy, you can find options for all tastes and pocketbooks. Chapultepec Ecological Park, Water Park "El Rollo" and Lake Tequesquitengo:
Cultural and sports attractions.- As far as cultural and sorting interests, mainly in Cuernavaca, national and international events are held in the areas of fine arts, photography, dance, conventions, golf, chess, etc. And the practice of extreme sports like parachuting, rappelling and diving, among others. Danza de los Chinelos: A folk dance.
This is Morelos!
An important attraction for foreigners who want to learn the Spanish language is to come to the city of Cuernavaca, where there are many educational institutions that teach our language, and they can also find schools of English, German, French, Japanese, Italian and Portuguese, as well as the Mexican language Nahuatl. Attractions for investment and economic development.- Due to its strategic location, large transnational companies have established themselves here. The area known as the Industrial City of the Cuernavaca Valley (CIVAC) is an example, where we can find an automobile assembly plant, an international brand tire factory, pharmaceutical industries, and manufacturers of electronic parts, plastics, metallic parts, chemicals, communications technology and cellular telephones, cosmetics, cleaning and food products, etc., as well as clothing manufacturers.
Besides terrestrial routes, the area also has an airport for national connections. As for highways, the city of Cuernavaca can be easily reached from Mexico City via the “Autopista del Sol,” which goes from Mexico City to the port of Acapulco, in Guerrero State, from north to south. To the east, the highway goes towards the city of Puebla. And to the northeast a free (non-toll) highway goes tot he city of Toluca in Mexico State.
More photos!!!
For these reasons and more, Morelos is a magical part of our Mexican Republic, worthy of your consideration! And Cuernavaca is the appropriate site for our 15th National and International Meeting of DXers and Shortwave Radio Listeners! *********************************************************************************** From Mexico City: By Air, a) Arriving directly from the Mexico City International Airport, which presently has two terminals:
Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México (English version) For the benefit of our colleagues and visitors on the national and international levels, there are direct first class bus links directly from the Mexico City International Airport to the city of Cuernavaca. More information at the web page: http://www.pullman.com.mx/english/ b) Arriving at the local airport, the Cuernavaca Airport in the capital city of the State of Morelos. It is classified as a Class VI national airport and it’s located only 16 kilometers from the city.
More information at: http://cuernavaca.asa.gob.mx/wb/webasa/cuernavaca_aeropuertos By Land This city has various bus terminals with four commercial lines: Pullman de Morelos, Estrella Blanca, Estrella de Oro and Autobuses Surianos (better known as Oro). a) Pullman de Morelos. This company is well-known and has excellent service all day long, with excellent deluxe and First Class buses. Its main route is its connection to Mexico City.
If you arrive at Mexico City, the first thing to do is find the Terminal de Autobuses del Sur (the southern bus station), popularly known as the Taxqueña (or Tasqueña). At this terminal you will find the routes to Cuernavaca. However, you have to consider which terminal you want to arrive at, because there are two main terminals in Cuernavaca: Casino de la Selva and Terminal Centro. The main one, in my opinion, is the Terminal Casino de la Selva, since from here the buses leave for Mexico City International Airport. The route from Taxqueña takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes, depending on traffic. b) Estrella Blanca. This company is comprised of other lines known nationally as Autobuses Chihuahuenses, Estrella Blanca and Futura. So for our colleagues coming from the northern part of the country, you can check to see if some bus line makes a connection with this line, since there are various routes that go to Acapulco via Cuernavaca, saving time since you don;t have to go through Mexico City.
There is also the possibility of arriving from the Terminal de Autobuses del Norte (the northern bus station) in Mexico City and from there take a First Class bus direct to the Estrella Blanca Terminal in Cuernavaca, a very comfortable and recommended service. The only disadvantage is that these direct routes are only available at certain times. The Estrella Blanca Terminal in Cuernavaca also has a service of local connections in economy class to the city of Toluca in Mexico State. This avoids passing through Mexico City. The disadvantage is that it is not a fast route and the road is very twisting, but the scenery is wonderful. c) Estrella de Oro. This is a bus line that has a direct connection from Mexico City to the port of Acapulco and the Pacific beaches. The city of Cuernavaca is in the middle of this route, which leaves only from the Terminal de Autobuses del Sur (Taxqueña) to Cuernavaca, Morelos. And incidentally, if someone is coming from the south, such as the State of Guerrero, this line could be yur option to travel in First Class buses.
d) Autobuses "Oro". This terminal connects the eastern part of the country, with direct routes between the cities of Cuernavaca and Puebla in very comfortable deluxe buses. En route lies the historic city of Cuautla, Morelos. It is easy to arrive in plenty of time with no problem to Cuernavaca. IMPORTANT NOTE:
For those who have to go through Mexico City and who go
through the Terminal The "Metro" (underground) is equally inexpensive, but in this case you have to change trains in various stations, which can be confusing for those who aren’t familiar with the system. It is also known for being a bit risky in terms of theft or attacks.
If you want to look at the metro line map (you must have Adobe Peader installed): http://www.metro.df.gob.mx/imagenes/red/redinternet.pdf The option of using taxis is only recommended if you have a lot of equipment or are travelling with others since the cost is very high. Always use the taxis that are located inside the bus terminal, avoiding the taxis “on the street.” Taxi is the last option if there is no Metro or Trolebús service. Central de Autobuses de Oriente (TAPO) ******************************************************************* Cuernavaca, being an excellent tourist destination, has an infinity of lodging possibilities for all tastes and budgets, from the most luxurious suite to a rustic room in a guest house (“casa de huespedes”). Since the exact site has not yet been chosen for the event, we can’t recommend any specific accommodations for the Meeting at this time, but there are multiple options on the tourist sector web page below. ******************************************************************************************* RECOMMENDED SITES TO LEARN MORE ABOUT CUERNAVACA AND ALL OF MORELOS STATE: http://www.morelostravel.com/publica/principal.php http://www.tesorosdemorelos.com.mx/english/principal.html http://www.demoreloseslaradio.com.mx/ (Cultural Radio on-line) http://www.cuernavaca.gob.mx/turismo/index.php http://www.diariodemorelos.com/ EDICIÓN IMPRESA VIRTUAL Useful telephone numbers: Tourist Information: Worldwide +52 (777) 314 39 20 and National 01 800 987 8224.
